Welcome Jade Chen, Ph.D.
Jade Chen joined LMU College of Business Administration in fall 2022 as a tenure-track assistant professor of accounting. She currently teaches the undergraduate business core course, “Accounting Information for Decision Making.”
Jade’s primary research interest is in auditing, with a focus on various factors that affect auditors' ability to deliver high audit quality, such as audit firm internal governance and human capital management. She’s also interested in questions at the intersection of auditing and financial accounting such as the role of auditing and audit regulation in shaping firms' disclosure decisions. Jade looks forward to exploring new research ideas with her accounting colleagues as well as other disciplines at LMU.
“I’m excited to be a part of LMU’s diverse community where I can continue to conduct high-quality research while teaching and mentoring students,” said Jade. “Given AICPA’s [American Institute of Certified Public Accountants] recent focus on incorporating technology across the accounting curriculum, I’m hopeful my experience with integrating data analytics into accounting courses will add value to the department.”
Recently, her solo-authored paper, "When Employees Go to Court: Audit Office Labor Market Reputation and Audit Quality," was recognized as the Best Archival Paper by the Auditing Midyear Meeting 2022.
Jade holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in accounting from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Economics in public finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. She worked for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China as a personal financial manager for four years.
In her spare time, Jade enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling and discovering new restaurants.
