Panelists

David Bochner

David Bochner leads Business Development and Partnerships for Pachama, a verified marketplace for forest carbon offsets. Backed by Bill Gates's Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Pachama is harnessing the latest techniques in remote sensing (LiDAR, hyperspectral satellite images) and AI (deep learning, convolutional neural networks) to enhance the verification and monitoring of carbon capture by forests and natural ecosystems. The mission is to unlock private sector funding for the critical work of protecting, enhancing, and expanding natural carbon sinks and restore humanity's balance with nature. At Pachama, David's role is focused on the demand side of the business, generating interest and signing on partners such as Shopify, Microsoft, BCG, and Flexport to the platform to support forest projects around the world.

Prior to David's current role at Pachama, David had an extensive career working in technology startups. After getting a BBA from Emory University and a JD from Pepperdine University, David turned his focus to the startup world, first as a Business Development Representative at ZEFR in Venice Beach. He later moved to San Francisco as the first hire at Wove, where he helped build a partnership marketing network of over 300 brands before being acquired by Samba TV. After many years in the space, he sought a transition into more impactful work and was delighted to come across Pachama, a company combining both his background in the technology world and love for nature. He doesn't plan on going back anytime soon.
