Sophia Yamada is a first-year Philosophy, Politics, and Economics major at Loyola Marymount University from Cupertino, California. She is passionate about reducing inequalities and making resources and systems more accessible to underserved communities. Her interest in the SDGs grew through her work with SIREN, an immigrant rights organization, where she has supported community outreach and created accessible educational materials.

At LMU, Sophia is excited to build connections and explore how students can contribute to the SDGs through advocacy, education, and service. As an SDG Student Ambassador, she hopes to make the SDGs more approachable for students and work with fellow ambassadors to create meaningful initiatives on campus.
