Soleyana Shiferaw is a senior political science major with minors in journalism and theatre arts. Driven by a passion for international human rights, particularly in African and Middle Eastern countries, she has developed a diverse skill set through academic pursuits and extracurricular leadership roles. On campus Soleyana serves as the president of the university's Mock Trial team, she organizes and leads meetings and with her team competes with other universities at Mock Trial tournaments. In addition, Soleyana is also a journalist for the Lion and reports on a wide range of stories focusing on student issues, marginalized voices, and campus protests. Combining her academic focus in political science as an SDG Student Ambassador, she is dedicated to advancing the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Soleyana is committed to raising awareness and mobilizing her peers to take action towards building more peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. Through events, collaborative projects, and leveraging her diverse skill set, Soleyana aims to contribute to the global effort of promoting human rights, fostering accountable institutions, and ensuring access to justice for all.
