Naomi JianCang Alvarado is currently studying Statistics and Data Science at Seaver College of Science and Engineering, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Los Angeles, California. Concurrent with her studies, she holds a budget analyst position in LMU’s Finance Division, a program coordinator position for LMU's Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainability, and a research & development position for the LMU Baseball team.
Naomi has a strong research background. Having been on faculty-led research projects across disciplines and departments, she understands how to bring her quantitative skills to various academic environments.
In recognition of her leadership, Naomi has been awarded the Arrupe Scholarship Award. Named for Fr. Pedro Arrupe, the long time Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) whose vision of Educating Men and Women for Others has become the hallmark of Jesuit education. She is also a standing member of LMU’s Service and Action House, whose strategic themes of academic excellence, faith & reason, education of the whole person, community, and service to others are fundamental to the 500-year-old tradition of excellence in transformative education that the Jesuits and Loyola Marymount University have always upheld.
