Why did you choose the LMU M.S. in Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation (MSESI) Program?
I chose the MSESI program because I’ve always had a passion for environmental science and green building, as well as a background in entrepreneurship. I wanted a program that truly merged sustainability with business innovation, and this program felt like the perfect blend.
How has your LMU graduate degree helped your career?
For my capstone project, I worked with GAIA Development, a sustainable building company in Los Angeles. Our team developed tools to optimize workflows, leveraged AI, collaborated with software developers, and conducted a deep dive into the company’s operations. The project allowed me to provide meaningful solutions to an established business while gaining an invaluable foundation in green building. That experience was instrumental in helping me land my current role at Viridiant, a nonprofit in Virginia that advances sustainable building practices in multifamily housing. What really set me apart when applying to Viridiant was the unique combination of project management skills with process optimization and AI integration — competencies I gained directly through the MSESI program.
What do you remember most about your time as an LMU graduate business student?
What stands out the most is working with driven, ambitious classmates from such diverse industries and nationalities. That exposure was key to broadening my perspective and helping me think about different ways to create a successful business or innovate within existing organizations. The professors were incredibly knowledgeable, and I especially appreciated the small class sizes and personalized approach that made it possible to connect directly with faculty. I also definitely miss the campus views!
Is there a particular graduate experience, course, or professor you would like to highlight?
The first person that comes to mind is Professor Eric Strauss. I had never experienced a class led with such passion and energy, paired with a deep wealth of knowledge. His course on environmental problems and solutions was both fascinating and inspiring. I also gained so much from the capstone project, guided by Jason D’Mello, Ph.D. and Sunil Murthy, Ph.D. The real-world exposure and collaboration were exactly what I was looking for, and they exceeded my expectations.
What would you tell a prospective student considering enrolling in the LMU MSESI program?
If you are interested in business, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, this program is perfect for you. Innovation is embedded into every course, and the tools you gain will serve you for a lifetime, no matter your career path. The program will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, think differently, and ultimately become a more confident, capable, and environmentally conscious professional. You really can’t go wrong with the M.S. in Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation program.
