Businesses today face significant and existential challenges as they seek to maintain, recover and jumpstart sales resulting from current events and the economic shutdown. LMU professors Matt Stefl and Andy Rohm along with marketing executive and LMU adjunct professor Eric Johnson discuss what businesses should be thinking about during the current pandemic and ongoing recovery period in order to survive and meet the current crisis head on.

Bios

Andrew Rohm is a professor of marketing within the LMU College of Business Administration and co-director of the M-School. Rohm earned his B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Rohm spent the 2007-2008 academic year as a visiting professor at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Rohm’s teaching involves courses in adaptive media and analytics and cross-platform content creation and his research examines consumer usage and acceptance of new media such as mobile marketing and social media as well as firms’ development of social media marketing strategies. He has published in scholarly and managerial publications such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Business Research, and Sloan Management Review (among many others). After living in the greater-Boston area for 15+ years, Rohm joined the LMU faculty in 2011, where he continues to work on his surfing skills. He lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife, Kim, their three children, their black lab named Pretty Boy Floyd and a Chihuahua-Lab mix named Annabelle.

Matt Stefl joined the LMU College of Business Administration in 2014 as clinical professor and co-director of the M-School. Matt has two decades of creative marketing experience and has touched every aspect of the business from media to creative to brand and communications strategy. He draws from a diverse resume of clients and categories including Google, Venmo, Beats by Dre, Wonderful Company, Honda, Toyota, Turbo Tax, Nestle, Dole, Bank of America, and more. In addition to teaching, he enjoys a variety of consulting and creative projects throughout the year. He has conducted research, published and been quoted on the topics of creativity, intuition, talent and marketing education. Matt is also excited to have published his first book titled, Doing Business in the United States: A Guide for Small Business Entrepreneurs with A Global Mindset, with Business Expert Press (June 2018).

Eric Johnson is a modern marketing leader with a focus on helping businesses transform through digitally connected marketing. He founded and built ad agency Ignited, founded coworking venture, El Camp, currently building a new type of flex office business, Fast Company CoLabs.
