Sandra Fuchs, second from left, at LMU Orientation in 1984.

My LMU story began as a commuter student looking for a place to fit in. Everything changed one day at Alumni Mall when a few students—including Amy Hughes Ruggles, Tony O'Farrill, and Michael Hermosillo—approached me to say hi and ask why I was so good at accounting! That lighthearted moment was the start of a lifelong friendship and a true sense of belonging.

That community spirit extended into the classroom. I was fortunate to be mentored by CBA professors like Fred Keisner, George Dasaro, and Alan Falcon, who brought subjects to life through hands-on projects like LMU Olympic Novelties. They didn’t just teach business; they taught us to be inquisitive, to lead with empathy, and to value our peers. We were competitive, certainly, but we were always driven by a shared camaraderie and purpose.
