Biography Peter Smith Ring is a Strategic Management professor at the College of Business Administration. He has been a visiting professor and research scholar at Insead; IESE; Nanyang Business School (as a Fulbright Scholar); CEIBS; University of Bologna; University of Bocconi; Université de Paris IX – Duaphine; University of Catania; and University College Dublin; and as the Advanced Institute of Management Research Visiting International Fellow at Strathclyde University. Ring’s research focuses on networks and strategic alliances, the processes for managing strategic alliances, the role of trust in inter-organizational relationships, strategies for managing competitive and political environments, and public sector-private sector collaboration. He sits on the Editorial Boards of the
Strategic Management Journal and the
California Management Review .

Research
Ring is interested in the governance structures and developmental processes of networks and strategic alliances; public-private partnerships; the management of innovation; the roles of trust in transaction processes; contract as an organizational trope; strategic behavior of multinational firms; and comparative management processes of the public and private sectors.
