Biography
Ellen Ensher has been a management professor at the College of Business Administration since 1997. She focuses on teaching courses in the area of human resource management including mentoring and management and training and development. Ensher has published over 40 articles and book chapters in journals including the Academy of Management Executive , Human Resource Development Quarterly , Journal of Journal of Vocational Behavior , and Leadership Quarterly . Ensher, with co-author Susan Murphy, wrote Power Mentoring: How Successful Mentors and Protégés Make the Most out of Their Relationships (Jossey-Bass, 2005). Ensher is a frequent speaker to executive teams on the topic of mentoring for organizations including: Direct TV, Kraft Foods, Psomas, the Sisters of the Holy Cross, and the U.S. Navy and the World Presidents Organization. Internationally, Ensher conducted workshops on mentoring for Knowledge Resources in South Africa and taught a course in international human resource management in Rome, Italy. Ensher has been quoted on the topic of mentoring and human resources in the New York Times , The Wall Street Journal , and the Associated Press . She has appeared as a guest on several radio and TV shows in Chicago, New York, and San Diego. Ensher was selected as the Faculty Herstory Award Winner for Women’s History Month in 2007 and selected by students and faculty to be inducted into Delta Sigma Pi in 2007 and Beta Gamma Sigma in 2008. Ensher currently has a book in progress on the defining moments of executives and entrepreneurs with co-author, Mark Bandsuch and articles in progress on mentoring prototypes and tests and challenges of mentoring relationships with co-author, Susan Murphy.
