The Center for Accounting Ethics, Governance, and the Public Interest’s Distinguished Speakers Series invites the public to attend a presentation by Charles A. Bowsher entitled, “The Banking Crisis, Debt, and Ethics.”
U.S. consumers, businesses, and local, state, and federal governments have amassed unprecedented levels of debt and financial commitments. The banking crisis has further exacerbated the problems. Who is responsible? Who will pay? What does this mean to our future? Bowsher will offer his insights into these important questions.
Bowsher served as comptroller general of the United States and as head of the General Accounting Office for 15 years. Under his leadership, the GAO issued major studies on important topics such as the savings and loan crisis and the federal deficit. He was associated with Arthur Andersen and Co. for 21 years and served as assistant secretary of the Navy for financial management for four years.
The lecture will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 7:15 p.m. in Room 100, Hilton Center for Business. A reception will immediately follow the presentation.
