Areas of Expertise

Dr. Vance's undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities at Loyola Marymount University have included organizational training and development, strategic human resource management, career development, international human resource management, and performance management. He received his master's degree in organizational development from Brigham Young University and Ph.D. from Syracuse University, where his focus was on training and organizational learning systems design. Vance has been affiliated in teaching and other capacities with several colleges and universities, including Harvard, University of Southern California, Syracuse University, Pepperdine University, and Ithaca College.

 

Publications

Dr. Vance has delivered numerous presentations at academic and practitioner association meetings, and has published widely in such journals as Journal of Management Education, Training and Development Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management Development, Advances in Competitiveness Research, Management International Review, and Human Relations. His book, Mastering Management Education, was published in 1993 by Sage Publications. He is presently a section editor for the Journal of Management Inquiry.

Dr. Vance has focused his teaching, consulting, and research within organizations in the United States and abroad on training and management development, organization change and development, international management, and human resource management.
