Application Process

All full-time LMU second and third year undergraduate students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above and have not previously visited Korea are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Applicants will be required to demonstrate these qualifications and submit a qualifying essay.

Successful applicants will receive round trip airfare. Accommodations and meals will be provided by host families and travel arrangements in-country will be paid. Students will need insurance and money for incidental expenses. A coordinator from Sogang University will supervise the program in Korea.

In their applications, students will write an essay (400 words or less) explaining their reasons why they wish to participate in the program and what they will be looking for. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of these essays, and on the student’s qualifying application, GPA, and interview by the Selection Committee.

Scholarship winners will be expected to spend two weeks in Korea, and on return will prepare a report (1500 words) on their findings of cultural differences they have experienced. Specific details about these reports will be given to the scholarship students. Selected reports will be published on a regular basis.

The application deadline has been extended to February 28. Selections are made by the scholarship committee.
