The Center for Asian Business invites LMU students to visit the amazing Asian country of South Korea, where Father John P. Daly, S.J., lived for 20 years. Our Center is offering four scholarships for a special two-week summer cultural experience June 27 - July 11, 2009. Scholarship recipients will be living with a Korean family, and will visit temples, factories, markets, and other cultural and historical sites. The visit will be hosted by our Jesuit university in Seoul, Sogang University, founded in 1960 by Jesuits from the Wisconsin Province. Details can be found in the brochure .
The scholarships were established by Theresa Y. Shim, former associate director of the Center for Asian Business at LMU, and supported by Dr. Sookwon Shin, professor of English at Sogang, and Mr. Jae Koo Oh, president of the Sogang English Department alumni. Sogang faculty and alumni and other friends have contributed to the endowment as a way to foster the study of Korean culture and history to promote understanding by mainstream Americans.
