The Center for Asian Business (CAB) was established in 1995 to promote understanding between Asians and Americans at first through executive education programs, and recently, through faculty research grants and student scholarships.
Following the footsteps of the 17th century Jesuit, Mateo Ricci, in China, Loyola Marymount University as a Jesuit university through its international education network continues to share his cultural awareness tradition in its approach to understanding indigenous perspectives to address a wide variety of human and social development issues in response to environmental changes. The CAB will continue Ricci's mission of understanding cultural roots and the sociocultural effects and affects they have on the road to economic growth and human development.
The community and environment of a university gives direction to the institution's mission. Loyola Marymount University is located in Los Angeles, one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, the doorway to the Pacific Rim, and the media capital of the world.
